Delicatessen: Wow, what a quirky film! This is a demented Amelie if I had to liken the filming style to anything. I thought it was going to be kind of scary at first considering the premise and all but it turned out to be pretty hilarious (notably one character's repeated failures to kill herself) and kind of actually sweet when all was said and done! Definitely interesting and worth a watch if you are into odd dark comedy French films haha.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall: H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!! Loved this one. Brian, you mentioned something about me not being on the Apatow train and I'd like to correct you here. I'm not sure where you're getting that from as I'm an avid Anchorman fan and I liked 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Superbad too (let's not forget I'm a big "Freaks and Geeks" fan as well). Just wasn't WILD about them as I am with FSM. Can't wait for Pineapple Express and Stepbrothers.

I Know Who Killed Me: Wellllllllll, it started out average but not bad but then took a severe turn down about 2/3 into it. Plus, all the red and blue freakin couldn't have been more obvious as to where the plot was headed. Seeing Lohan as an amputee ranked high on my enjoyment scale. I'll admit I had no idea who the killer was but I don't think anyone could have guessed as there wasn't even an explanation as to why he kidnapped her. I'd recommend this one for Mystery Science Theater 3000.

PARTIAL WATCHES

Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: I caught the last 1/2 of this on one of my movie channels. It turned out to be a nice little story. The acting is nothing special and the story isn't profound but it's a feel good movie designed to honor the memory of it's real life main character.

Ah! Just chatted with my French boss about Delicatessen and he confirmed that it was made by the same guy that did Amelie...WEIRRRRRRRRRD then that it looked so much like it haha!

If you thought Delicatessen was weird Rebecca, you should check out City of Lost Children. I think they made that after Delicatessen and before Amelie. Flipping weird, but in a great way. Also has everyone's favorite Hellboy, Ron Perlman, in it too.

Yeah my boss actually recommended City of Lost Children to me during our conversation and now with 2 endorsements I'm putting it in my queue!

Haven’t seen Delicatessen. Liked Amelie quite a bit, wasn’t so fond of A Very Long Engagement. Ty’s previously recommended Delicatessen to me back when Engagement was one of our “Screening Room Sessions” but I haven’t yet sought it out. Maybe two recommendations will be enough to get me to watch it?

I don’t know where I picked up that you weren’t an Apatow fan either. I do remember you being sort of lukewarm on Knocked Up and Superbad though, still my favorite films from the Apatow clan. Guess I oversimplified that into you not really being all Apatow-ed up and just blatantly forgot about “Freaks and Geeks.” You should still go check out “Undeclared” if you haven’t yet. Not quite as good as “Geeks” but even more Seth Rogen and Apatow greatness. And yes, Pineapple Express looks awesome.

Then there’s Lindsay Lohan and I Know Who Killed Me. I’m just amazed I know someone who saw this. I think the movie made like $14 in theaters. Might be good for a laugh like you said, but what made you search this one out?

Also, haven’t seen Julianne Moore’s Prize Winner either. It’s in amongst the overloaded drawers of films I haven’t seen yet… but hasn’t called out to me yet.

Hahahahaha! $14 would be a generous rounding up I think. Please do not mistake--I did not, nor ever WOULD search out I Know Who Killed Me...it just happened to be on the free movie channel and I thought "what the hell."

Also, just as a warning, my roommate recorded Alexander for the exact same reason and we have agreed to watch it together so that we may both experience the terrible-ness simultaneously (and hopefully garner some amusement from it).

Delicatessen was a great film, as was Amelie, but my favorite Jean-Pierre Jeunot is City of Lost Children by far. Absolutely brilliant movie. Gorgeous beyond words. Great set design. Great story. Great acting. Love that movie.

Really, I thought you would have gone Amelie. That's a tough one for me to say because I like Delicatessen, City of Lost Children and Amelie all so much. Very Long Engagemnt was good too, but wouldn't best those three. City of Lost Children is probably the one I could watch the most. Amelie though touches a more emotional sentimental side of me, while Delicatessen has cannibalism in it so that's why it is awesome.

I'm going to have to go with Alien Resurrection.

The Valet: Cute French comedy. Had a lot of heart and some good laugh out loud moments. Kristen Scott Thomas speaks French like its her job...oh wait...it is.

Tootsie: Now I know what all the fuss is about. Definitely had good laughs and it was kinda amazing/disturbing how well Hoffman does drag.

Alexander: I rank this one up with Kingdom of Heaven...I was incredibly bored and confused the whole time.

Point Break: LOVED this movie. Saw it for the first time (obviously) and would definitely watch again. There's just something about late 80s/early 90s movies that are priceless. It might be Keanu Reeves.

Die Hard: Liked this one. Classic action movie. I still like Predator more though. Where is Reginald ValJohnson these days anyway?

The Ruins: So horrible. Not scary at all, and I think they filled most of the movie with sending the characters up and down the shaft. They didn't even EXPLORE the ruins. A huge waste of time.

Prince Caspian: I have to echo someone else's comments on this one. If you liked the first you'll probably like the second. Although the beginning bore a striking resemblance to The Ruins so it was hard to take seriously after that.

Curse of the Golden Flower: Beautiful movie. The colors are so vibrant and striking. The story was a bit depressing but worth a watch.

Shampoo: Well, I might be missing the bigger picture here but to me all this was was watching a very strapping young Warren Beatty get it on with as many women as possible. Goldie Hawn was cute but her character lacked something that really made you want to like her. And it was just awkward watching Julie Christie be such a slut. This was pretty much a run down of the movie:
Beatty sleeps with a woman.
Beatty with a blow dryer.
Beatty rides motorcycle.
Beatty tries to fix a problem with a blow dryer and sleeping with a woman.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
